Bank of America Updates App with Check Order Options

Bank of America Updates App with Check Order Options

It seems that banks have been busy updating their mobile apps with check features in the past week, despite the fact that checks have been declining in popularity in recent years.

Bank of America now allows customers to order checks through its mobile app, “thanks to all the great feedback and feature requests,” the company said. Additionally, customers can now view BofA’s catalog of check styles (Hello Kitty is an option) and accessories — such as registers, checkbook covers, debit card holders, stamps, and even calculators — and order those through the app. If you are feeling particularly creative, BofAs checks are fully customizable. The app update, version 6.6.8, was posted on the iTunes app store yesterday.

Another bank, BBVA Compass, released a different check feature this week, allowing customers to deposit multiple checks at once through the app.

Both BofA and BBVA’s check features indicate that neither customers nor banks are ready to completely part ways with paper slips. Instead, digitally-driven FIs find ways to utilize check features and drive traffic to their mobile apps, and away from ATMs.

Bank of America increased its mobile userbase by 14.6% year over year, reaching 19.6 million in the first quarter.
